Terms of Service

1. The marketplace

Student Helpers is a platform that connects local adults (customers) with verified students (helpers) for short-term work. We are not an employer, staffing agency, or party to the work itself. Students are independent contractors.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, legally able to enter contracts, and provide accurate information. Students must verify a school email and pass identity review before accepting paid jobs.

3. Conduct

No harassment, discrimination, illegal activity, weapons, drugs, alcohol delivery, adult services, or anything that endangers a minor. Off-platform payments are prohibited and will result in removal.

4. User content and job listings

You are responsible for the photos, messages, reviews, job posts, profile details, and other content you submit. You may not upload content that is illegal, misleading, copyrighted by someone else, invasive of privacy, or unsafe. We may remove content, restrict accounts, or report activity when needed to protect users or comply with law.

5. AI-assisted features

Some features may use AI to help draft job posts, suggest application messages, summarize reviews, flag safety issues, or assist identity review. AI output can be incomplete or wrong. You are responsible for reviewing AI-assisted text before sending or relying on it.

6. Payments

Customers pay upfront. Funds are held safely by our payment processor (Stripe) and released to the student after both sides confirm completion. Disputes are resolved by Student Helpers admins; we may release, refund, or split funds based on evidence. A platform fee applies to each completed job.

7. Cancellations

Customers may cancel before a student is assigned for a full refund. After assignment, partial fees may apply. Students who repeatedly cancel may be removed.

8. Reviews and trust signals

Reviews, reliability streaks, completed-job counts, badges, and other trust signals are based on available platform activity. They are not guarantees of future performance. Do not manipulate reviews, create fake activity, or pressure another user to leave a false review.

9. Copyright complaints

If you believe content on Student Helpers infringes your copyright, email support@studenthelpers.app with the work, the allegedly infringing content, your contact information, and a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized. We may remove the content and may terminate repeat infringers.

10. Dispute resolution

Contact support first so we can try to resolve the issue informally. To the extent allowed by law, disputes will be handled individually and not as a class or representative action. Either side may seek relief in small claims court where available.

11. Liability

The platform is provided "as is." We are not liable for the quality, safety, or legality of work performed, the truth of any listing, or the ability of either party to complete a transaction. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to fees paid to us in the prior 12 months.

12. Termination

We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms. You may close your account at any time by emailing support@studenthelpers.app.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
